London to Esssx. Tuesday 28th August 2012

Yesterday, after quite a long 3hours after my lovely Julian Clary fellow passenger ran off to a better seat facing the right way of travel, I had the luxury of spending half an hour by myself delving into The Psychopath Test with Lana Del Rey blasting in my earholes.  Unfortunately my rather odd taste in book and depressing music didn't deter people from sitting with me as it usually does on my local bus.  And soon I was joined by a business woman complete with laptop (which only seemed capable of displaying complex spreadsheets) whilst eating sushi...

At least the trip didn't go without some humour as I overheard a rather desperate mother trying to entertain her children asking them 'and what train station are we going to?' 'ALASKA!!!' one shouted.  Obviously a very intelligent child as I'm pretty sure I hadn't heard of Alaska until Geography secondary school...
But finally I was in London after receiving many emails from my over-anxious, over the top mother saying 'how's the weather in Doncaster?..Bet you're in Peterborough now...'. Seriously, I will learn from my mother's terrible qualities.... Any chance of a romantic meet up with 'my beau', (yes, another motherism) was thrawted as we weren't at the same gate. LOL.
First stop, and it's obviously McDs.  It seems despite a lack of appetite I still have one for the Golden Arches <3 some things just don't change. However, first epic fail. Apparently my terrible northern accent has perverted the ability for anyone to understand me saying 'coke' as the McDs worker apparently thought I said water...jeez I must learn to enunciate.
So all fed and watered we hit the tube despite me trying to aclimatise to the weather and spending quite a lot of the time being hot and flustered, touching men up accidently, reading people's newspapers over their shoulders and definitely NOT avoiding anyone's eyes.  On top of being far too polite and tutting at the many times I was subjected to 'please mind the gap' I think I managed the London network perfectly fine... I particularly enjoyed the announcement 'There seems to be a red signal at Aldgate...and a train appears to be reversing towards...' he didn't finish his sentence but I did it for him 'us'. Haha but luckily no head on collision...
Off the tube and we explored Regent's Park and then Tower of London. We even bumped into a lifesize statue of Sherlock, two Wenlocks, the Shard and I even saw my first celebrity!! David Wicks off EastEnders who looked rather lost and flustered in Liverpool St Station. Excellent my first celebrity spotting!!
So on the train we got to Essex, with plenty of pics being taken of the Olympic stadium with me none too obviously brandishing my camera and thrusting it at my boyfriend so he could be the tourist.
After a chaotic night of sleeping admist trains, aeroplanes, tree felling and children screaming in the street, Wednesday arrived.  But alas that will have to be written in my next blog...
