Norsey Woods. Friday 30th August

And so the last few hours of August had dawned alongside a bit of a hangover. Despite the nights getting darker we were quite blessed by some good weather. so after some much.needed R & R we took the dog out again to stretch her little legs.

We headed to Norsey Woods. Apparently home to the Peasants Revolt. A mound of the dead is rumoured to be located on these woods where the battle ended. To me it was a not so spectacular overgrown molehill but I do exaggerate... However it did tickle me that there was a commemoration seat for a young boy of around 11 with the note "because he enjoyed sitting here" which I felt was rather macabre but if that's his wish so be it...
The woods were rather spectacular with it's winding paths and long lines of ants milling around. There were even one or two forgotten pathways and lost treasures.
At the other end of the woods was the park.  And it wasn't what I was expecting in the slightest. Instead of the tiny skate park and leisure centre of my town that has since been mercilessly bulldozed, there were lavish long lawns, a great huge pond come lake with actual ducks, and plenty for the children to enjoy on top of their skate park and swimming pool. It was safe to say I was quite impressed to be honest with you.
The dog happily chased squirrels and birds though hilariously backed off when they approached. And I got to eavesdrop on childrens conversations which proved just how stereotypical they can be...
All in all, minus the blister like rubbing on my heel it was another good day :)
