Dear Diary, 28th May - 3rd June 2012

I have been busy busy busy lately, so much so that I've let my personal commitments take a downfall and my mental capabilities to go haywire.  Today is the first day that I could actually have a lie in pulled short because at 10am on Sunday's is my prime TV time of the week *sigh*.

So what have I been up to?

Monday
Following the sunshine of the week before I welcomed my all day shift with open arms.  An excuse not to go out and get sun burnt all day again.  Temperatures soared to the point that the candles on the picnic tables outside were literally a pool of very warm wax.

So I was more than happy to listen to a pile of screaming kids cutting up cardboard boxes to look like castles or handle people dropping off three hefty stone columns that the mover willingly told me would probably fall if they were pushed (the combination of the stones and kids kept me occupied enough to last me through to the afternoon - I was determined not to have any children die on my watch...).  And the afternoon lent itself well to a spot of quiz revision for that night.  I can now tell you a range of useless facts that would benefit no-one but the chance of it coming up on a future quiz which is probably not going to happen...

The quiz itself was a competitive affair (as is everything with me) and one that was not helped by the obscure question of 'which bank note has a spider and an owl on it'. See below for the answer.*  As it was, between the two of us, we got 20/55.  Not too bad considering the quiz that it is...

Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday
Not much to say other than finding very odd things in the library (see below), an empty bottle of juice seemingly moving around by it's own accord, and invigilating (the last exam of the year! - Woop!).

Found this under the shelves in the library - scary...

Friday
Day trip time to Newcastle to watch the new Avengers Assemble movie.  Men in tights and lycra costumes may not be my usual thing but this film was funny and well written, pulling together a number of super characters which collectively did something which individualistically they couldn't.  A drink in a pub up there, and a return to Durham for a few more proved to be a pleasant day.  Not to mention I managed to set up my own server for Minecraft which me and my boyfriend are currently on a mission to create our own world on.

Saturday
Returned home to find that the bird, named by us "Marv'', eggs had nearly all hatched and that the previously featherless hideous looking things resemble something like birds now...
Seeing as this nest is located in a wall plant plot next to my front door that my bedroom overhangs I'm not looking forward to their constant chirping....

These little baby birds are camping right underneath my bedroom...not looking forward to their vocal chords kicking in..

Sunday
Finally, it's Sunday and finally I can rest :) Well that's if it wasn't the Diamond Jubilee! It's time to get our party shoes on again! I'll rest on Wednesday...

Woke up to this. My house appears to have been thrown up by the Jubilee...

Joining the festivities (^_^)

*Answer: One Dollar Bill.  Having umm'd over this for a long time as my boyfriend had one on him, it wasn't until our neighbours looked it up on the internet that we came to conclusion that the 'spider' and the 'owl' are nothing but a squiggle in the corner - something that only a borrower could probably identify.  And that it may not be an owl or spider at all, but rather everyone is split on what they see it as.
